1940s Fair Isle Check Blouse Knitting Pattern – Bust 36″

This 1940s knitted blouse has a neat button-through front, classic shirt-blouse shape and all-over check pattern worked in two contrasting colours. The short fitted length and long sleeves give it a particularly smart 1940s silhouette.

The original was knitted in yellow and navy Sirdar Super Shetland 3-ply wool, although you can of course choose your own colour combination. A modern 4-ply yarn may also be suitable, but always knit a tension square first when substituting for vintage yarn.

Designed to fit a 36 inch (91 cm) bust, the finished blouse measures approximately 17 inches (43 cm) from the shoulder, with an 18 inch (46 cm) sleeve seam.

You will need approximately 6 oz (171 g) of the darker shade and 4 oz (114 g) of the lighter shade, together with old UK No. 12 and No. 8 knitting needles.
