1940s Colour Block Cable Sweater Knitting Pattern – Short or Long Sleeves – Bust 34–36″

Price range: £3.99 through £5.99

A striking 1940s sweater with a clever use of colour and texture. Worked mainly in reverse stocking stitch, the contrasting cable details are dotted across the front to give the design its distinctive look. The original was knitted in blue and white with red cables, but it would work equally well in your own choice of three colours.

The sweater can be made with either short or long sleeves and has a neat button fastening at the back neck.

To fit 34 or 36 inch bust.

The original pattern specifies 3-ply yarn rather than a particular brand. You will need approximately 8 oz in total, depending on the size and sleeve length chosen, together with a pair each of old UK No. 10 and No. 12 knitting needles and a cable needle.

Tension: 7½ stitches and 10 rows to 1 inch.
