1940s Cardigan Jumper Knitting Pattern – Lace Stripe – Bust 34

This vintage cardigan is designed to do double duty — wear it open as a cardigan or buttoned up as a jumper.

It’s worked mainly in stocking stitch, with pretty lace-stitch stripes adding interest to the front. A soft roll collar, long sleeves with turn-back cuffs and a neat row of 12 buttons complete the design. Worked in lightweight 3-ply wool, it would make a lovely cardigan for spring and summer.

The original yarn used was Sirdar Majestic Wool 3 Ply, with 7 oz (200g) required. You will also need No. 10 (3.25mm) and No. 12 (2.75mm) knitting needles and 12 buttons.

Tension: 7½ stitches and 10 rows to 1 inch over stocking stitch.
