A lovely little 1940s Angora bolero with just a hint of glamour. Soft, fluffy and wonderfully feminine, it’s the sort of little cover-up that looks equally pretty over an afternoon frock or dressed up for an evening out.
There are two sleeve options to choose from, short or long, so you can make whichever suits you best. The short-sleeved version is particularly lovely for evening wear, while the longer sleeves make it a practical choice for cooler days.
Measurements: To fit a 34-inch (86 cm) bust.
Original yarn: Patons Fuzzy Wuzzy Angora. The short-sleeved version requires 9 half-ounce balls (approximately 128 g), while the long-sleeved version uses 11 half-ounce balls (approximately 156g)
Needles: Old UK No. 10 (3.25 mm) and No. 12 (2.75 mm).
Tension: 7½ stitches and 9½ rows to 1 inch (2.5 cm).
The original Angora yarn is no longer readily available, but a suitable modern fluffy yarn could be used instead. As always with vintage knitting patterns, do check your tension carefully before starting.
