A pretty little 1930s jumper with a neat Peter Pan collar and matching covered buttons. It’s a fairly straightforward design, knitted mainly in stocking stitch, with ribbed cuffs and waistband and a ribbed edging around the collar.
The little details really make this one. The short buttoned opening and softly rounded collar give it a lovely finish, while the fitted waist makes it particularly nice worn with a high-waisted skirt or trousers.
You’ll need a little crochet knowledge to finish the front edges and make the covers for the buttons, but otherwise the knitting is quite simple.
The original pattern calls for 7 oz (approximately 200g) of Ramada Super Fingering Wool, a 3-ply yarn, worked on UK No. 10 (3.25mm) and No. 12 (2.75mm) knitting needles. You’ll also need a medium crochet hook and four button moulds.
The pattern is written to fit a 34–36 inch bust (86–91cm), with additional instructions for making a larger 36–38 inch bust (91–97cm).
As always with vintage knitting patterns, check your tension before choosing a modern yarn substitute.
