1930s Cable Rib Blouse Knitting Pattern – Bust 34–35″

Price range: £3.99 through £6.99

An attractive 1930s knitted blouse with plenty of interesting stitch detail. The sleeves and lower body are worked in a diagonal rib pattern, while the contrasting striped yoke features cable rib with open ladder detailing between the cables.

The ladders are created by dropping the stitches between the cables, taking them back to the beginning of the yoke and fastening them off. It’s an unusual technique that gives the yoke its distinctive openwork effect.

The original yarn used was Patons Super Crepe, with 6 oz in turquoise and 1 oz in white, approximately 200g in total.

The pattern uses a pair each of No. 12 (2.75mm) and No. 9 (3.75mm) knitting needles, a No. 9 (3.75mm) double-pointed needle and a No. 13 (2.25mm) crochet hook for finishing.

To fit a 34–35 inch bust.

Tension is 8 stitches to 1 inch over the diagonal rib using No. 9 (3.75mm) needles.
