Such a pretty little cardigan from the 1930s, with three lovely bows down the front, a neat collar and a gently shaped waist. I particularly like the way the front curves away below the waist, giving it a smart, fitted look that would be lovely worn with a skirt.
The cardigan is mainly knitted in stocking stitch, with ribbed cuffs and a single row of double crochet around the edges. The little buttonhole tabs are crocheted too, so you’ll need a little crochet experience as well as your knitting skills.
The pattern is written to fit a 36–38 inch bust and originally used approximately 340g (12 oz) of Anny Blatt New Boucelette wool, knitted on old UK size 10 (3.25mm) needles, with a tension of 7 stitches to 1 inch.
I’ve been unable to confirm the original yarn specification, but judging by the needle size and tension, a modern 4-ply to 5-ply yarn may be a suitable starting point. Do knit a tension square before choosing your yarn, as matching the original gauge is important for getting the correct fit.
