1950s Turn-Over Collar Sweater Knitting Pattern – Bust 34–38

This 1950s knitting pattern is for a sweater with a wide ribbed yoke and large turn-over collar, fastened to one side with a button.

The front and back are knitted alike in stocking stitch with wide ribbed welts, and the sleeves repeat the same combination of stocking stitch and ribbing. The front and back yokes are worked in the wider rib to give the upper section its distinctive shape and texture.

Originally designed for Listers Lavenda 4-ply or Lavenda Crisp Crepe 4-ply, the sweater requires approximately 18–24 oz (510–680 g) of yarn depending on size.

Old UK No. 11 (3 mm) and No. 12 (2.75 mm) needles are required, together with four press studs and one large button.

The stated tension is 7½ stitches and 10 rows to one inch on No. 11 needles.

Three sizes are included, to fit bust measurements of 34, 36 and 38 inches.
