A lovely fitted jumper-jacket from the 1930s, with a neat collar, short sleeves and a flattering shaped waist. Knitted mainly in stocking stitch with moss stitch trimmings, it has five covered buttons down the front and a gently curved lower edge.
The original yarn was 12 oz (approximately 340g) of Patons Totem wool, a DK-weight yarn, with a small amount of contrasting 3-ply fingering wool for covering the five button moulds.
You’ll need old UK No. 11 (3mm), No. 7 (4.5mm) and No. 4 (6mm) knitting needles.
The original tension is 13 stitches to 3 inches and 11 rows to 2 inches in stocking stitch on No. 4 (6mm) needles.
The finished jacket measures 35½ inches around the underarm when fastened and is designed to stretch comfortably to fit up to a 37-inch bust.
A useful little jacket for wearing with skirts or trousers, and a lovely example of practical 1930s knitwear.
