A really simple 1937 jumper and a good choice if you’re looking for an easy vintage knit.
The jumper is worked mainly in stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch, with the contrast creating the raised horizontal bands across the body and sleeves. The yoke is worked in reverse stocking stitch and it’s finished with a neat collar and tassel tie at the neckline.
The original pattern uses approximately 6 oz (171g) of 3-ply/fingering yarn. You’ll need old UK No. 11 and No. 9 knitting needles, plus an old UK No. 12 crochet hook for finishing. I’ve included a simple needle and crochet hook conversion chart to help with modern metric and US sizes.
The finished measurement is approximately 32 inches (81 cm) around at the underarms, with enough stretch to suit approximately a 34-inch (86 cm) bust.
