1940s Long and Sleeveless Thermal Vest Knitting Pattern 2 Sizes

This knitting pattern includes two different thermal vests, each offering a practical extra layer for cooler weather. Alongside a traditional Spencer, you’ll also find a sleeveless Princess Vest, giving you the choice of two classic 1940s designs in one pattern.

The Spencer is available with long sleeves, short sleeves or no sleeves and features an all-over floral stitch pattern. It is worked in 3-ply yarn using 3.75 mm (UK No.9) and 3.25 mm (UK No.10) knitting needles, with a crochet hook used to finish the edges. The pattern is designed to fit 34–36 inch and 38–40 inch busts, with an original tension of 15 stitches to 2 inches and 9 rows to 1 inch over the pattern stitch.

The Princess Vest is a sleeveless design worked in 2-ply yarn using 3.25 mm (UK No.10) and 2.75 mm (UK No.12) knitting needles. A crochet hook is also required for the finishing. It is designed to fit 34–36 inch and 38–40 inch busts, with an original tension of 15 stitches to 2 inches and 10 rows to 1 inch over the pattern stitch.
