This 1950s knitting pattern is for a fitted maillot or swimsuit, worked mainly in slip rib to create a close, textured fabric.

The swimsuit is knitted in 3-ply yarn using two straight needles and a No. 14 circular needle. A small amount of crochet is also used for the finishing, so some basic crochet experience will be useful.

Three sizes are included, fitting bust measurements of 32, 34 and 36 inches and hips of 34, 36 and 38 inches. Finished length ranges from approximately 25½ to 27 inches, depending on the size.

The stated tension is 12 stitches and 20 rows to one inch.

To fit bust: 32–36 inches.
To fit hips: 34–38 inches.
