Description
A beautifully delicate sweater from 1935, this vintage design features flared sleeves and a stylish
yoke neckline, trimmed with six buttons placed on the diagonal for a touch of asymmetrical charm.
Unlike modern patterns, this jumper is cleverly shaped without any increase stitches, relying on
a range of needle sizes to sculpt the silhouette—an elegant technique that reflects the thoughtful
design of the era.
The original yarn used was 5 ozs (approx. 142g) of Patons Super Brindle, a classic wool of the time.
The pattern calls for: A pair each of No. 11 (3mm), No. 10 (3.25mm), No. 9 (3.75mm), and No. 8
(4mm) needles, 6 small buttons
Yarn and tension details can be found in Image 2.
This is a lovely project for knitters who enjoy working with vintage techniques and historic
silhouettes, and it’s especially perfect for 1930s fashion lovers or those creating period
inspired garments.
