A smart 1940’s Beret and Matching Bag worked in
a firm and pretty Tapestry stitch. The bag is an
envelope style and the beret is attached to a
cap at the back of the head.
The Bag is knitted on 2 needles the beret on 4
The original set was knitted in 3 ply with the 3 ply
being used double to achieve a thicker yarn on
No. 8 (4mm) needles. Approx 10 ozs. (284g)
MEASUREMENTS: BAG: Width of bag at base 13 ins.
Depth 8-3/4″. HAT width across top of crown 9 ins.
All round head edge 23 inches.
TENSION: 11 sts. to 2 inches in width and 10 rows
or rounds to 1 inch in depth
The needles are old U.K sizes so I have included a
conversion chart to help with metric and US sizes
