A Striped and ruched Jumper from the 1940’s.
It’s worked by doubling the number of stitches
on the ruched stripes and then decreasing on
the plain stripes and changing the needle size.
The original yarn used was Munrospun 2 ply,
which is a Shetland yarn and amazingly you
can still buy a version of it from: shetlandwoolbrokers.co.uk.
They say it is used well for Fair Isle knitting
and is equivalent to a 4 ply
You will need approx 7oz in total of the yarn,
2 oz in each colour and 1 oz for the collar and
plain bands. Pair each of No. 7 and 12 needles
To Fit a 34-36 inch Bust.
TENSION: For No. 7 needles 11sts. to 2 inches
The needles are old U.K sizes so I have included a
conversion chart to help with old to new etc
The pattern comes as one easy to download
and print PDF
