A super cardigan from 1948. It was worked
in Paton’s Fair Isle fingering which is equivalent
to a 4 ply fingering (14wpi). The design is really
simple with alternating plain stripes and then
the fair Isle stripe. The borders and collar are
in double rib
You follow instructions for the stripes etc and
a chart for the Fair Isle
Measurements to fit: 32-34 ins. Bust. Length
from top of shoulders 18 ins. Sleeve seam 20 ins.
You will need approx 9 oz. (approx 256g) of
4 ply. Pair each No. 9 and 11 (old UK) needles.
The original yarn was approx 163 yards(149
meters) per 1 oz. ball.
Tension: 7 and a half stitches to an inch
The needles are old sizes so I have included a
conversion chart to help.
The pattern comes as one easy to download
and print PDF
