Description
A really unique knit from the 1940’s wartime era.
It’s an austerity knit with thrift in mind, as you
could use up odds and ends of left over yarns.
It’s worked sideways and the instructions are
challenging, so bear this in mind if you are new
to knitting.
The main piece is knitted and the borders are
crocheted on after. If you don’t crochet you
could swap the crochet for knitting using
either moss-stitch or garter stitch, picking
up enough stitches evenly to work them,
using the crochet instructions as a guide
for amount of rows etc.
The yarn used is 2 ply, No brand mentioned:
3oz. (86g) green, 2 oz. (57g) red and 2oz. (57g)
white. Pair of No. 10 (3.25mm) needles. A No. 10
(3.25mm) Hook for crochet borders.
The needles are old UK sizes so I have included a
conversion chart to help
The PDF Pattern is easy to download and print
