A really wonderful sailor sweater from 1935. It’s
knitted in a combination of moss, stocking-stitch
and cable stripes, with jaunty little ribbed sleeves.
The whole thing is knitted 3 ply with the original
yarn being Wolsey Sportsman 3 ply “Favorite”
Fingering on No. 8 and 11 (UK old size) needles.
Tension is: Worked at such a tension that a moss
stitch stripe, a plain stripe and cable stripe will
measure 21/4 inches in width on No. 8 (4mm)
Measurements: Round Bust 36 inch, Front shoulder
seam to lower edge 19 inches, back length 18 inches,
side seam 12.5 inches, Long sleeve seam with
cuff 19 inches.
The needles are old UK sizes so I have included a
conversion chart to help
